Thunderbolt Middle School Active Shooter Response Training

The following short article: Thunderbolt Middle School Active Shooter Response Training was initially seen on ICSAVE.org

Since 2013, there have been over 300 school shootings in America - an average of nearly one per week. On Saturday, September 29th, 50 teachers and administrators from Lake Havasu City’s Thunderbolt Middle School received the knowledge, skills and abilities to better survive an active shooter event. Conducted by Integrated Community Solutions to Active Violence Events (ICSAVE), ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) is a set of proactive, options-based strategies, that increase chances of survival and bridge the gap between the time a violent event begins, and law enforcement arrives. School participants learned and experienced the decisive advantages of proactive vs. passive response strategies via numerous live scenario drills and are now empowered to help save lives!

Construction Technologies Professionals Our Newest Community Heroes!

This post Construction Technologies Professionals Our Newest Community Heroes! has been at first shared on: ICSAVE.org website

Pima County residents now have 20 more trained and certified immediate responders among their ranks! On Thursday, September 27th, these exceptional young men and women from the county’s Joint Technical Education District’s (JTED) Construction Technologies Program completed the necessary educational requirements to obtain American College of Surgeon’s Bleeding Control Certification. Civilians need basic training in Bleeding Control principles so they can provide immediate, frontline aid until first responders can take over care of an injured person. Due to many situations, there may be a delay between the time of injury and the time a first responder is on the scene. Without civilian intervention in these circumstances, preventable deaths may occur. Although no single set of skills or response can fit all injury, trauma, or active violence situations, making sure everyone knows his or her options and can react decisively will save valuable time and lives. As members of our extended community family, these young professionals now have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to help save a life!

Hurricane Florence Relief Efforts

You'll find the original release of this information Hurricane Florence Relief Efforts at this website: www.icsave.org

Hurricane Florence is pummeling the Carolinas with strong winds, heavy rain and dangerous tidal surges, destroying buildings and lives. The Red Cross is providing safe shelter and comfort for evacuees across six states. More than 20,000 people have sought refuge in more than 200 Red Cross and community shelters to escape the storm's wrath. Several members of ICSAVE are presently deployed assisting with disaster relief efforts and, given the magnitude of these events, recognize the need is greater than ever before. For those not directly affected by this tragedy, we encourage you to give to the relief effort. The Red Cross depends on financial donations to provide disaster relief. You can help people affected by Hurricane Florence by visiting redcross.org, calling 1- 800-RED CROSS or texting the word FLORENCE to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Donors can designate their donation to Hurricane Florence relief efforts by choosing that option when donating on redcross.org or on 1-800-RED CROSS. The best way to ensure your donation will go to a specific disaster is to write the specific event name in the memo line of a check. We also recommend completing and mailing the donation form on redcross.org with your check. To the brave men, women and children affected by this calamity, you are in our thoughts and prayers. From our ICSAVE Family to yours, we will NEVER forget you nor ever leave you BEHIND!

Another Fantastic Year at Fire School!

This article Another Fantastic Year at Fire School! has been originally produced on: http://www.icsave.org

ICSAVE was honored to yet again be a part of the Arizona State Fire School. A 45-year tradition, the annual event brings together our state’s best and brightest public safety professionals. From the opening ceremonies, this year’s festivities and training programs were diverse, multi-dimensional, timely, relevant, engaging and insightful. Those same qualities in equal measure describe the fantastic group of students who enrolled in our Active Shooter Response Course. These devoted public safety professionals brought with them a lifetime of experience and wisdom. Over 40 firefighters from 20 different agencies were represented and the men and women we had the privilege of training came with a unity of purpose (to make their communities safer). This year’s program had numerous Internationally renowned subject matter experts come together to share their insight, knowledge and perspective regarding the active violence problem facing all of us. On behalf of our entire ICSAVE family, thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s program. More importantly, thank you for your tireless service to our communities! Active Shooter Response is a dynamic, constantly evolving program and we hope to see you all, and many others, again next year!
