You can discover the initial release of this document Immaculate Heart Active Shooter Response Training on this website: icsave.org

Since 2013, there have been over 300 school shootings in America - an average of nearly one a week. On Tuesday, May 29th, 50 congregation members from Immaculate Heart Academy received the knowledge, skills and abilities to better survive an active shooter event. Conducted by Integrated Community Solutions to Active Violence Events (ICSAVE), the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, and Sierra Vista Police Department, ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) is a set of proactive, options-based strategies, that increase chances of survival and bridge the gap between the time a violent event begins and law enforcement arrives. Immaculate Heart participants learned and experienced the decisive advantages of proactive vs. passive response strategies via numerous live scenario drills and are now empowered to help save lives!

BUMC Conducts Mock Active Shooter Exercise

http://www.kvoa.com/story/38263635/emergency-medical-services-at-umc-banner-south-train-and-prepare-in-case-of-a-mass-shootingTUCSON - School shootings, mass shootings, all becoming too familiar these days. That's why here in Tucson, resident-physicians in the Emergency Medicine department at the U of A College of Medicine took part in a mass shooting exercise. The drill was to train the Emergency Room personnel to make sure they're prepared in case of a disaster. It took part at Banner University Medical Center South campus. As part of the simulation, the participants pretended that three gunmen fired AR-15s into a crowd of concertgoers at the nearby Kino Sports Complex. The drill was meant to be as realistic as possible, complete with fake blood. Dr. Dan Beskind, who heads Emergency Medical Services, said the procedures in the mock drill came directly from the Las Vegas shooting in October when 58 people were killed and 851 injured. "If you do table top drills and live scenarios, like the one we did on Wednesday, and you look at your emergency department where you put your more critically injured patients, and how to clear out your waiting rooms," he said. "Also, take your admitted patients to another area of the hospital, free up operating rooms, and get security to secure the area. All this and more was learned from that incident so that the doctors here can utilize the training and take it to hospitals where they may end up working." Participants in the drill said it was good training. They said hope they never have to use it but if it happens they'll be prepared and ready to save lives. read more at kvoa.com

Santa Fe Shooting Victims – How You Can Help

This write-up: Santa Fe Shooting Victims – How You Can Help was first seen on http://www.icsave.org

On Friday, May 18th, ten people were killed and 13 wounded at Santa Fe High School in Texas. As the community struggles to cope, a number of funds are providing help. GoFundMe verified these campaigns and guarantees all donations collected will go directly to each fund's designated beneficiary. The Santa Fe High School Victims' fund was launched by Jim "Mattress Mack" Mcingvale, owner of Houston's Gallery Furniture and long-time philanthropist. Donations from this fund will be passed to the Sante Fe Texas Education Foundation to benefit the victims and their families. Santa Fe High School alumna Christy Smith Landriault started the Support the Victims of Santa Fe fund to raise money for the Santa Fe Texas Education Foundation. The Love for Santa Fe fund is raising money to help those affected cover upcoming expenses. It is working with the Santa Fe Independent School District to make sure funds are distributed appropriately. According to a spokeswoman for the Houston Texans football team, defensive end J.J. Watt has offered to pay for the victims' funerals. The NFL player previously helped Texans recover from Hurricane Harvey, raising more than $20 million. The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is asking for donations, especially for those that can donate blood platelets and O-negative blood. Donation locations around the Houston area can be found here. To the victims affected by this tragedy, you are in our thoughts and prayers. From our ICSAVE Family to yours, we will NEVER forget you nor your strength in the face of this horrible event!

Prescott Public Safety Active Violence Response Training

This particular blog post Prescott Public Safety Active Violence Response Training had been originally released on: http://www.icsave.org

On May 16th and 17th, 50 public safety representatives from throughout Northern and Central Arizona conducted 16 hours of intense active violence response training. The purpose of the Public Safety Integration Operations Course is to deconstruct the nature of these evolving threats as well as offer awareness-level integrated point-of-wound care instruction specifically focused on dynamic active violence, all-hazards and/or explosive threats. Day 2’s activities were the culmination of several hours of didactic, practical skills and real-world scenarios’ based training, focusing on the practical application of the 3 phases of Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) and ensuring that all participants had the knowledge, skills and abilities to implement these lifesaving skills under stressful conditions. Active violence events have resulted in numerous civilian casualties and captured the attention of the nation. These horrific and calculated acts have dramatically impacted countless individuals and communities by instilling fear that such events can unpredictably occur in urban, suburban, rural and metropolitan areas. Despite evolving threats, many public safety organizations throughout the country have yet to develop response paradigms to meet these challenges.

This course is specifically targeted for law enforcement and fire / EMS organizations who want to proactively develop integrated response strategies to mitigate the impact a violent mass casualty incident can have on their community. This workshop is recognized by both the Arizona Center for Fire Service Excellence (AzCFSE) and Arizona Peace Officers Standards and Training (AZPOST) Committees.

Immaculate Heart Academy Ready to Save a Life!

The first publication of Immaculate Heart Academy Ready to Save a Life! was done on: icsave.org

The Southern Arizona Catholic Diocese has partnered with Integrated Community Solutions to Active Violence Events (ICSAVE) to provide emergency readiness and situation training for all its employees, key volunteers and the community members they serve. Pima County now has 50 more trained and certified immediate responders among their ranks! On Friday, May 4th, Immaculate Heart Academy hosted a Bleeding Control training event for its employees, students, volunteers and the surrounding community and as a result, a number of men, women and children completed the necessary educational requirements to obtain American College of Surgeon’s Bleeding Control Certification. Civilians need basic training in Bleeding Control principles so they can provide immediate, frontline aid until first responders can take over care of an injured person. Due to many situations, there may be a delay between the time of injury and the time a first responder is on the scene. Without civilian intervention in these circumstances, preventable deaths may occur. Although no single set of skills or response can fit all injury, trauma, or active violence situations, making sure everyone knows his or her options and can react decisively will save valuable time and lives. As members of our extended community family, these men, women and children now have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to help save a life!
